Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question.
Is there any brain imaging and EEG available.
Migraine headache can be well responsive to Valproate and it can be used for epilepsy too. The choice of antiepileptics depends upon the diagnosis and cause of seizures.
Headache can be due to hydrocephalus itself.
What was the cause for shunt.
Please provide any brain Mri reports and prescription of treating doctor.

I have no images that are available my primary care doctor looked at them and said he did not see anything wrong with the shunt to shunt is for hydrocephalus however he is telling me that a neurologist and a neurosurgeon can definitely treat the headaches because they are due to hydrocephalus he thinks they are either cluster headaches or migraine headaches but it looks to him like they are cluster headaches because of how many times I am in and out of the hospital with these headaches he also stated on the reports based off of what neurology sent him that Topamax was tried zonegran was tried and there was Trileptal that was tried as well as many others like seven or eight others so I need something that is a brand new anti-epileptic medications that might help with headaches not an old one that I might be able to recommend to my current neurologist

Brief Answer:
Take medications as advised with prescription by neurologist

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Migraine headache are throbbing, unilateral or bilateral associated with nausea or vomiting and sensitivity to light or sound.
Cluster headache are short duration severe pain associated with redness of eye, lacrimation and many episodes in a day.
In case of shunt, headache can be due to shunt block too.
If shunt is OK and recent imaging is normal then divalproate should be tried for migraine and seizures.
You can also try migraine prophylaxis medication like Flunarizine, amitryptiline or propranolol.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Do get back to me for further queries.
