Suggest Medication For Gout

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Nov 2015
Question: A friend of mine has been prescribed 75 mg injections of Artrenac for gout. He has apparently been suffering chronically from this conditioning for about six weeks. He has suffered from this condition on and off throughout the years but his previous medication ( I don't know the name of ) is not working. In addition he has been prescribed Zyloprim 300 mg to be taken once a day for 30 days and Niro-B 15 15 mg tablets to be taken once a day for 10 days. These medications were prescribed by a doctor in Mexico based solely on lab results that were done in the US. Personally I do not believe it's a good thing for him to use these drugs however I think he will do it anyway. Do you consider them dangerous? Specifically nitro B I can't find any information specifically for nitro b and the dosage seems hard if it's in the nitroglycerin family. Any advice?

Brief Answer:
No information on nitro b

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

I understand the concern about your friend. I do not advocate treating for gout based on lab reports as the diagnosis of gout is always based on clinical examination and lab parameters put together. Patients with high uric acid need not be treated. Tab zyloprim is used for gout however a newer generation safer drug would be febuxostat 40 mg once a day, most doctors prefer this now
I have searched for tab nitro b and asked my colleagues as well but no one seems to know, I don't think it's Nitroglycerin, it is most likely a Nsaid group of drug. NSAIDs are commonly given as a pain killer. Please get back to me with the contents of the drug.

I hope I was of help,'if you have any further queries please get back to me
