Question: 1) why cannot you use Hydrocortisone for candidiasis?

2) Why cannot you use miconazole for Bacterial vaginosis?

3) why cannot you use hydrocortisone for Bacterial vaginosis?

4) Why CAN you use Miconazole for candidiasis?

5) what is the duration of use and maximum total daily dose of loperamide for OTC in adults? a) 48 hours and 8mg/day, b) 24 hours and 10mg/day. c) 48 hours and 10mg/day or d) 24 hours and 8mg/day. correct answer is A. why is it correct and why each of the other 3 are wrong?

1. Hydrocortisone is a potent antiinflammatory med. One of its side effects Is alteration of skin microbiota, helping fungus flourishing.

This explains why can't use in candidias.

2. Bacterial vaginosis is an Infection of vagina caused by bacteria. Miconazole is an antifungal agent and can't kill bacteria.

3. Hydrocortisone is an antiinflammatory agent, can't help fight the bacteria neither Candida. On contrary, its use will make things worse.

4. Miconazole is an antifungal agent that's why can be used for Candida which is a type of yeast/fungus.

5. Loperamide should not be used without doctor's advice as it will cause blockage of bowels.

However, if your doctor prescribed it, can use until improvement if symptoms.

6. The effect of loperamide is very fast, within the first few hours of taking the first dose.

Can be started with 4 mg after loose stool, then 2 mg after each loose stool as maintenance dosage.
