Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Ativan is not a drug for alzheimers and is usually given for anxiety, agitation, sedation in alzheimers.
It is a benzodiazepine group of drug.
For anxiety it can be given safely with risk of sedation.
Drugs specific for alzheimers are memantine, rivastigmine and used when required.
