Question: Can I treat mouth thrush myself? I'm pretty sure that's what I'm suffering with...have been through 4 mos. of chemotherapy...asked my primary doctor and my oncologist what's wrong with my mouth...no productive answer from either one of them...oncologist said that it does occur in people who have been thru chemo...so I looked it up, and sure enough...so is there any home remedy that I can do that would get rid of it? Thanks for your response in advance.

Brief Answer:
saltwater rinses

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Mouth thrush s a condition in which the fungus candida albicans accumulates on the lining of your mouth.

You need to take antifungal medication.

This comes in several forms, including lozenges, tablets, or a liquid that you swish in your mouth and then swallow.

You need to brush at least twice a day and floss at least once daily.

Replace your toothbrush often until your infection clears up.

If you have problems with strength or dexterity in your hands, an electric toothbrush can make brushing easier.

You can also try warm saltwater rinses.

Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water. Swish the rinse and then spit it out, but don't swallow.
