There is no specific month wise dietary changes that are needed during the pregnancy. Generally you will need more of calories to get extra energy and you need to make some changes in your diet. The nutritional supplements that you need for healthy baby include-
1. A high protein diet- rich in pulses, cereals, eggs, fish, etc.
2. A high calcium intake- like milk, milk products, eggs, bajra, ragi, etc.
3. Eat fiber rich fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables and avoid foods which are not easily digestible and fatty foods
4. Have six small meals instead of 3 large meals
5. Drink plenty of fluids
6. Go for regular Brisk walks for 30 to 40 minutes daily.
7. Take regular iron , calcium and DHA supplements as prescribed by your gynecologist.
You should
- take green leafy vegetables at least once a day
- include salads in all meals
- nuts especially walnut and almonds are very good for baby
- drink plenty of water to avoid urine infections which are very common in pregnancy.
- milk at least twice a day
- fruits like apple, pear, plum and kiwi are very good.
Along with this you should take adequate rest of 8 hours at night and if possible 2 hours in day.
You should -
- visit a gynecologist for booking of pregnancy
- start taking folic acid tablet
- avoid doing heavy work like lifting a bucket full of water or a pile of books or clothes.
