Brief Answer: SI joint will not be benefited by chon. sulphate Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for posting your query on HealthCareMagic. There are number of capsules containing chondroitin sulphate in the market. You can get them prescribed by an orthopedician. However, you need to know when this preparation is required. Osteoarthritis is age related degenerative condition of the joints. As the disease progresses there is wearing of the cartilage and other soft tissue in the joint. When the cartilage is completely damaged, the joint fuses and mobility is compromised. When the cartilage has started wearing, chondroitin sulphate is helpful as it prevents wearing of the cartilage. This preparation will be ineffective in case of SI joint since the joint is fused. If mobility is still present in the right knee, this preparation can be used. Chondroitin sulphate is available from Nutrilite brand which is easily available. Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal

Brief Answer: Chon sulphate not used in ankylosis spondylitis Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome again, I would like to clarify couple of things here. 1. Ankylosing spondylitis ia an autoimmune disease. It is managed by immunosuppresants and chondroitin sulphate is not effective in it. Therefore I don't feel you will be benefitted with this supplement unless recommended by your surgeon.\ 2. knee problem that you are suffering is most likely not due to ankylosing spondylitis (AS) since AS involves the sacro-iliac joint only. The knee is commonly involved in osteoarthritis. It is a degenerative disease which is seen in elderly. So I would insist you to visit an orthopedician before trying medicines over the counter or through online purchase. 3. Lastly as I am aware of chondroitin - glucosamine - MSM supplement is not available as over the counter anywhere in this world. Most of my colleagues prescribe tab rejoint (brand name in India) to their patients. You can discuss about this brand when you consult the orthopedician. Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
