Brief Answer:
Bypassing the Bypass

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health concern and this is a fairly common problem with large number of elderly patients who suffer from Ischaemic Heart Disease (IHD) and/or Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) since these people refuse any invasive procedure in elder age group, thus most of the patients do very well with Natural Treatment and change of lifestyle, and under the guidance of Cardiologist, one can take good care of the person.

The treatment is a five step approach:

1. Exercise: brisk walk for 45 minutes every day, (walking is the best)
. Yogasanas and Pranayama (avoid complicated one)

2. Stress Management: Meditation for 15 minutes everyday, i.e. think positive about own health and life.

3. Low Fat Diet:
. Less than 10% of the day's calorie intake should be from fats (unsaturated fats)
. No to cholesterol rich food items: butter, ghee, cheese, skimmed milk, saturated oils, deep fried foods, yellow of meat, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco.
. Take: more of soups, plenty of salads, sprouted pulses, more of Bhajis, skimmed milk, onion, garlic, soy bean, apple, curd of skimmed milk, limited use of monounsaturated oils and increase the fibre intake.

4. Elimination of known risk factors:
. Stop Smoking
. Weight Reduction is ideal
. Control Diabetes
. Avoid Mental strains

5. Drugs
. Tablet Abana
. Capsule Evil
. Arjunarishta
. Trifla Churan
. Capsule Cip

PS. Keep emergency medicine at hand (In office-in the bedroom- in the bathroom- in travel kits)
