Posted on Wed, 6 Apr 2016
Question: Hi Doctor, we have just moved to XXXXXXX from Philippines. I have a 2.5 year old daughter who was born in Philippines and on the advise of the pediatrician there we were giving her Cherifer and Pedzinc syrups which she had asked us to continue till she was at least 3 years old. My question is what are the equivalent syrup names with similar configuartions in XXXXXXX as we have been unable to find it so far. Your prompt response will be appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Syrup bevon for cherifer and zincovit for pedzinc

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Can understand your concerns.

Cherifer syrup is a multivitamin with vitamin b, vitamin a, cgf, lysine.
The closest substitute in XXXXXXX is syrup polybion-L. However it doesn't contain cgf.
Pedzinc contains zinc and vitamin C, the closest substitute is zincovit syrup. Zincovit contains zinc in dose of 20 mg in 5 ml while pedzinc has 9 mg zinc in 5 ml so the dose of zincovit will be half.
Vitamin c is available in syrup form 250 mg/5 ml.
Since in pedzinc around 97 mg vitamin c is present so if you are giving syrup vitamin c (250 mg/5ml) then you need to give 2 ml.

I hope this will help you.
Take care.

Thank you doctor. So should we give Bevon or Polybion as you have mentioned both as substitute for Cherifer. How important is cgf and how can we obtain it if it is missing in this syrups.

Can you also suggest a good Vitamin C syrup name?

Lastly do these syrups really help in getting a child more immunity. My daughter is very picky with food and we want to ensure that she builds her immunity since she has suffered from frequent colds and cough since we moved to XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Cecon drops, frutcee drops, pedivit-c drops, aquasol c drops

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Polybion-L syrup will be better than bevon syrup as it contains lysine also.
Cgf is important to boost immunity but as per my knowledge it is not available in XXXXXXX yet in any syrup.
Trade name for vitamin c are cecon drops, frutcee drops, pedivit-c drops, aquasol c drops. Look for content in 1 ml, you were giving around 100 mg of vitamin c daily. Adjust dose according to content of vitamin c in drops.
These syrup definitely help to boost immunity as it is usually seen that there is multivitamin deficiency in child.

I hope this will help you.
Take care.
