Question: Hi my 2 month daughter seems to be having a lot of gas. Her ped asked us to change the formula from Similac advance to isomil but she doesn't like the taste. What other options do we have?

Brief Answer:
Breast milk is the best option.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Let me mention that breast milk is the best possible feed for a baby and there can be no alternatives for the same. Formula milks come nowhere close and are associated with a number of problems. So, my suggestion would be to switch back to breast milk if feasible. The production of breast milk is dependent on the hunger of the baby which is expressed through the sucking. So, if the child is fed with external feeds and is not hungry, the child will not suck and breast milk will not be produced. So, act on it.

Your doctor has lactose intolerance in consideration and hence has prescribed lactose free formula. All the other options (like Zerolac) would be equally poor in taste.

Appreciate your response but we have twins and therefore the top feed is required. The doctor advised Nan lo lactose but I can't find that anywhere.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

NAN AL110 or NAN Lactose Free might not be available everywhere but even if it were available, the taste would have not been quite superior to that of Isomil or Zerolac. As I mentioned, the taste of lactose free formula would not be quite good.
