Brief answer....given below
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
Dose of acyclovir in oral herpes infection is 200 mg every 4 hour for 10-14 days or alternatively you can take 400 mg every 8 hours for 10-14 days.
Till date no permanent cure has been established for herpes infection.Once infected the person remains infected for lifelong.Sporafic outbreaks occur with this infection but it takes place more in immunocompromised person.
However with passage of time these episodes become very sporadic and few people may not even have it again in his lifetime.
I hope it helps, however you may revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

You basically told me what i alreasy told you!!!! I know the dosage, as i said i have been taking it for 18 years! My questions was, how much is too much. I am travaling and trying to avoid an episode like i had where i swell up and am covered in cold sores. If i take 400 mg qid, is there a potential problem? I currently have about 30 sm sores, trying to avoid full blown ulcers
