Brief Answer:
Exclusive breast feeding till 6 months

Detailed Answer:
Hi..usually according to World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, it is advisable to breast feed exclusively till 6 months of age.

If mother's milk is given till 6 months then you can start complimentary feeding apart form continuing breast feeds whenever necessary.

But if the baby is 5month old by the time you start work you can follow this -
1. Express the milk and keep it in fridge and give it by paladey or spoon whenever the baby is hungry in your absence.
2. Feed the baby just before leaving to office.
3. Feed the baby as soon as you come back form work.
4. In between if the expressed breast milk n fridge is not suifficient, you can give the baby Lactogen 1 or Nan1 or Dexolac 1. All are same.

If the baby is 6 months old by the time you start work -
At this age you can start giving Cerelac stage one rice or Nestum rice stage 1 etc. All are same in calories and energy. Only thing is palatability which is subjective for each kid.
Other home-made food options will be -
1. Daal and rice well cooked and made into a porridge along with ghee
2. Boiled apple or banana and mashed into a paste.
3. Any made cereal porridge preparation with additional ghee added.
Remember certain principles like -
1. Add one food material / cereal or fruit per week. This will be useful because if he develops vomiting or diarrhoea, we will know what to avoid.
2. Add vegetables and fruits made into a paste surely to avoid constipation.
3. Do not add too much sugar as it may cause diarrhoea.

I wish your kid a bright future. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. You can approach me at the following link. Please find the link below.
