Brief Answer:
May not be necessary.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

If you have regular 28-30 day cycles, you are in the safe period, i.e., you have not yet ovulated and would perhaps ovulate around 21st of July. So, you would not need emergency contraception.

If, you have shorter periods, though, you are unsafe and should go for emergency contraception.

The side effects are the usual ones seen with oral pills and can be aggravated owing to the high hormonal content. You may see a withdrawal bleed a couple of days after the pill intake and your next normal period may get delayed by a week or two.

Another way of emergency contraception is to go for the insertion of an IUD. This has the added advantage of serving as a regular contraceptive.

Hope I have clarified your query. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.

regards,
Shanti.V.
