Sharp pain in external ear. Not feeling well. What to do?

Sharp pain (external) ear for days very sharp,only right ear.Not feeling well at all.Excellant health,so concerned.

There could be various reasons for this kind of sharp pain in external ear like

1. Infection: boils
2. Some minor trauma to external canal by scratching etc.
3. Wax impaction
4. Upper respiratory infection

I think you need examination by your physician and proper evaluation for same.Please visit your physician at the earliest.

In mean time

Take analgesic like Tylenol for pain
Take steam inhalation
Avoid putting anything in ear; also prevent water from getting in during bath.
Take light diet and avoid cold drinks.

Thank you for reply,I have hot feeling on outer ear (Pinna) and I feel ill so I will try to see physician tomorrow.

It is important to have proper diagnosis and treatment.

Some infections in near by area like throat, neck etc. can also give rise to similar complain.
