Scleral Cyst Drained And Refilled Again. Using Steroid And Allergy Drop. Will It Be Cured Completely?

default
Posted on Fri, 22 Feb 2013
Question: I saw my ophthalmologist today to have a scleral cyst drained. He punctured it several times and observed that it would drain successfully, but immediately refill. It is larger now and far bothersome than before the intervention. I was given steroid drops to use twice daily for 3 days, followed by allergy eye drops for long term use, and advised it would either resolve or I would just have to learn to live with it.

I was wondering if you might tell me why it would repeatedly refill as described; further if you agree that it may be intractable, or if it is worth seeking another opinion in the event it does not resolve. It was irritating before, but extremely uncomfortable now.

My vision is not effected outside of light sensitivity and tearing.

Thank you.

Dear XXXXXXX,
thanks for sending your query to us.
This appears to be a conjunctival cyst.A cyst as you can understand has the integrity of its wall maintained.
For its removal we either remove the cyst in toto or remove one wall so that it does not fill up.
You have to have a second opinion ,where you have confirm following points
1) is this a conjunctival cyst
2) would it need complete removal one wall is to be removed
Living with this not a solution.
please do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.
