Safe to use volini spray on ligament tear and ankle fracture?

hi i want to know is it okay to use volini spray on swelling due to ligament tear and ankle fracture also how much time should i give to physiotherapy.. wat exercises should i do as my cast has just been removed.

Hi and welcome to XXXXXXX Thank you for your query.

Yes you can use volini spray for pain relief. Of course it wont have any good nor bad affect on swelling. Swelling is usual after such injuries and cast removal.
It will pass spontaneously,just keep your leg elevated as much as you can, avoid long standing and have manual lower leg massage.
Follow your weight bearing restrictions from your doctor and use both crutches for walking.
It is most important to prevent muscle atrophy. Bone healing is now something that noone cant have effect on. Only time can. So what you can is to strengthen your muscles carefully without disturbing healing process.
You should start with isometric exercises. It means just to muscle contraction without moving your leg or ankle. YOu can lay down and contract your quadriceps and pull upward your foot; hold it for 10 seconds,and then rest for 10 seconds. Do it 10 minutes and repeat it 4-5 times a day.
Second, you need to do streching,someone should help you, and strech you foot up and down till you feel pain and do it for 10 minutes. You can put some gummy ball between your foot and wall, and press the ball with your foot and hold it for 10 seconds. YOu should move your toes as much as you can all the day to prevent contractures and facilitate blood flow in foot.
Also, have warm baths and calf massage at same time,it will improve circulation too and prevent swelling.
Gradually, you can start elevating your legs while laying; elevate your whole leg in hip joint 10x while knee is extended and hold it in air for 3 sec.
It would be the best if you could visit pools where you can stand and exercise on your toes and heels while the water is at the level of your breasts. This would not have weight load effect on your ankle and it would strengthen calf muscles.
