I recently have had yellow/orange colored things in my stool (diarrhea or very loose) that resemble swollen corn, and have not eaten corn for over a week.
however this time it was bright red and was jelly like, and quite large and noticeable, it was slightly larger than a marble and looked like a red grape, (haven't eaten any grapes) and the color was redI tried squishing it with a qtip but kept moving around and I eventually broke it apart and it was white in the inside, there was no blood visible. Any idea what this could be

Thanks for posting your query.

I can understand your concern for this red jelly like clot in your stools. Based on your symptoms and medical history, two important possibilities are:

1)     Worsening of diverticulitis which can cause bleeding that occurs when the expanding diverticulum erodes into a blood vessel at the base of a diverticulum. Rectal passage of red, dark or maroon-colored blood and clots occur without any associated abdominal pain.

2)     Second possibility is of inflammatory bowel disease especially ulcerative colitis which may cause faeces to be mucus like and with blood.

You need to consult a gastroenterologist and get CT scan and a colonoscopy done to confirm the diagnosis. Once diagnosis is confirmed, treatment can be planned.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Follow-up: Orange objects in stool, diarrhea, now red and jelly-like. Any idea? 22 hours later
Would this cause perfectly formed ball that resembles the size of a grape. It floated
on top of the water with the stool attached. I tried poking it at first and it was very
jelly like. I did some research on diverticulitis and it states that if they were bleeding that the toilet would be filled with blood, there was no blood, not even when I was
able to break the ball.

Thanks for writing in.

The consistency of stool that you have described is suggestive of the passage of large amounts of mucus in the stools. This has led to a jelly like consistency. Inflammatory bowel disease can cause the passage of mucus laden stools.
Diverticulitis is not always associated with the clinical picture that you have described. The amount of blood in the stools would depend upon the extent of the problem.
Hope this helps.
