Hi Mr XXXXXXX

Thank you for posting your query.

First of all, we need to identify the reason for your sleep problem.

Sometimes, it may be due to anxiety or stress. Then, we have to give medicines to reduce the stress. Also, if there are any stress-producing factors (related to job or personal life), they need to be resolved.

Sleep problem may also be related to night shift jobs or changing shift jobs, when one is not able to sleep at different times (sometimes at nights and sometimes at day).

Jet lag due to recent travel to Europe or USA (different time zones) may also lead to sleeping problems.

Once we are sure about the reason, then, specific treatments including medicines can be used.

Please get back if you require any additional information.

Hi,

Thank you for getting back with more details.

Based on the description, it seems to be a case of primary insomnia (no obvious cause for sleep problem).

The medication, which is most likely to benefit you, is zolpidem. It induces sleep, and does not lead to any "hang over" the next day. Also, there is no risk of addiction to it.

Best wishes,
