Suggest Treatment For Severe Pain In Legs In An Elderly Person With Emphysema

Posted on Sat, 28 May 2016
Question: My husband, age 74 with emphysema and, as far as we know narrowed heart artery, etc - has, for the last several days dull, aching pain in both legs from upper thigh to upper calf area. 1 hydrocodone seems to dull discomfort for a while. It is obviously quite a problem for him as he always minimizes problems. Family doc on spring break! I need to know if this is something important or can it wait until Monday? I also don't see your cost anywhere.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

The pain doesn't seems to be related to dangerous health conditions. As long as hydrocodone is efficient in dulling the discomfort you should wait to see your family doctor.

If the pain will become more intense or the thing seems to get worse you should bring him at local Emergency Room department.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
