Question: My 93 year old aunt suddenly can't stay awake during the day. She sleeps well at night and in fact wants to sleep 24 hours/day. She has A-fib and takes high blood pressure meds.

Brief Answer:
Oxygen saturation could be low possibly.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking Health care magic forum.

I have gone through your query. Your aunts problem is most likely due to low oxygen saturation in blood. That can make her sleepy all time. As she is having high BP and atrial fibrillation she should be having heart failure also. These all leads to decrease oxygenation of brain.

Spo2 (oxygen saturation of blood should be measured). Her blood pressure also should be checked. If there is very low BP also she will feel sleepy all time. In such case adjusting dosage of anti hypertensives will be helpful. In case low oxygen saturation , oxygen supplementation intermittently will be helpful.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
