Brief Answer:
Whey protein is a good source of protein

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX Why protein is a good source of healthy proteins and has no real side effects. Optimum nutrition is just a brand and any brand of why protein will basically be the same.

BY all means, keep using it. it will do you good when you exercise.

Brief Answer:
Good questions, don't worry,

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I'm glad you asked these questions.

Firstly, lets understand what Whey protein is and what it is for.

Your body primarily absorbs three forms of energy from the food that you eat.

1) Carbohydrates / Sugars
2) Oils / Fats
3) Proteins

Now, ALL three of these are important for optimum health and when you are working out a balanced diet is very important and should contain all 3 of these energy sources.

Now, depending on your GOALS for your exercise, we have to tweak around the combinations of these three nutrients.

For instance, If you are trying to build muscle.. then you need more protein. If you are trying to lose weight.. you need lower levels of Carbohydrate and fat in the diet.

In your case, I assume you are contemplating building muscle. Otherwise the WHEY protein is not really necessary.

When you are trying to build muscle, the rule of thumb is that you should supplement protein in your diet after working out (within 30min of finishing the workout) and overnight when you are sleeping and your body is rebuilding damaged muscles.

The amount of protein you have to take is dependent on your body weight. It's a very simple calculation. For every KG body weight, you should supplement 1 gram of protein in your diet on a daily basis.

So if you weight 70kgs.. then you need to take 70g of extra protein in your diet. Remember, there will be some protein in your normal diet.. so there is no need to make it all up in the form of Why protein. A normal south XXXXXXX diet should give you about HALF of your total daily requirement of 70. But it really depends on what you eat. If you eat alot of junk food, your protein intake will be poor. If you eat alot of Daal, Pulses, Channa, etc you will have a good protein intake.

What I suggest for now is that you buy a protein powder that is not too expensive, Optimum nutrition is wonderful., but really all of them are basically manufactured in the same way. So even buying the local Venky's brand stuff would be just fine, and would save you alot of money.

In the Optimum nutrition stuff that I saw online just now for every 33g of the protein powder.. they claim there are 24grams of protein in there. If you are already getting say HALF of your daily requirement of protein from your diet (30-35g). then you only need to supplement another 30-35g. that should be around 50grams of the powder a day (it would be a good idea to get a small weighing scale from the store.. these powders are expensive and you shouldn't waste them).

I would suggest that you take 25 grams of the powder mixed with Milk or Water within 30min of completing your daily workout. Then take another 25 grams of the same mixture just before bed. This would ensure optimum delivery of the proteins to your blood stream AT THE RIGHT TIME.

Now to your other questions

2) Stopping whey protein is not harmful. The thing you must remember is that you can always make up the protein you get from whey through other sources. Chicken breast is a great example of a natural food that has almost the same protein density as why protein.

3) You can take whey protein daily with no problems, just make sure you are drinking plenty of water or the stuff won't get absorbed. If you have any Kidney diseases or issues.. then you should not take WHEY protein at all.

4) Brands are all personal choice boss. Buy what is affordable. They are all manufactured in the same way, sometimes in the same factories.. just the packaging changes.

5) No, it's not mandatory, if you miss a day, nothing will happen.

I hope this helps,

Vinay

Brief Answer:
Mornings are not the best time, but it's acceptabl

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for following up.

No real problem with taking in the morning. Just that your bodies natural cycle is to use Carbohydrates more efficiently in the morning. I would rather you have a fruit, like an apple when you wake up rather than whey protein.

That having been said. It will do no harm and I think your results will be satisfactory even when taken in the morning.
