Brief Answer:
Consider this option carefully!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this persistent pain that you have reported. I can tell it is not well managed and probably the reason why you are resulting to other drugs to help with this. What I find difficult is the fact that your doctor has not tried multiple medications for your pain. There is no standard dosage or combination for pain. We examine each regimen and decide whether to continue with it or not depending on the results. I think Norco has failed over the years to control your pain and something new needs too be considered.

Toradol is not a controlled substance and thus prescription would not be a major problem. It is ore difficult to get norco than this drug. However, it has serious side effects that would need special attention before using it. It can cause fatal heart and stomach problems. Talk to your doctor and ask how safe this would be and whether there are any contraindications.

Approach you doctor with a phrase like your pains have been terrible. Let him try to do something and in the course of your discussion, you may in a very non serious manner mention this for trial and hear what he says. If he is okay and prescribes it, thats fine. Otherwise, you would need to exercise some patience and hope that he one day gets there.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and please feel free to ask for more information and clarification if need be.

Thank you Dr. MY Dr. HAS put me under and coterized some nerves which has proved fruitful along with "concious" procedures using an x-ray machine to pinpoint problem areas. I'd be happy to send or have sent to you my most recent MRI, taken May 8th if you'd like to learn more.

Here's my Q. RE: FATAL HEART ATTACKS!! How prevelant or likely is that to happen? We all hear commercials touting the latest drug and as such they MUST list ALL of the "possible" side effects. It scares the hell out a person, right? So, all things being equal, i e normal blood pressure normal cholesteral, maybe 25 lbs overweight at 6'1 225, but exercise regularily. I certainly dont want to "go out" w/heart attack just to relieve pain. So what are the odds? 5-10%? Even THAT seems to high, frankly. But there MUST be something, only i didn't spend 8-10 years becoming a Dr. to know what that "something" IS. Major back surgery is out of the question, stretching may help, but i was really counting on modern medicine back in the 70's when i played, all out football thru college and was a weekend warrior for over 25 years. ALL cartlidge is gone, i've torn my rotator cuff, and acquired a minor case of planter faciitis...all of which make standing EXTREMELY difficult. Should i search for a different pain specialist & if so, can you recommend one in my area.. XXXXXXX Ca. 91506.
This was much more than jsut a "follow-up" Q & i apologize for that, but your answer made sense, so ...on i blathered. Thanks for your patience, regards, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Please, stick to the same doctor!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this follow up. Always a pleasure responding to my client's concerns and would not stop until you are satisfied.

Heart attack occurs in a very few number of patients. This should be lower than 0.1% . If it were to be higher, i am pretty confident no one would ever use this drug and it would have been taken out of the markets already. This side effect highlights the possibility of a heart attack but it is for sure a rare occurrence. This drug is not used for the long term management of pain and as such, using it in a client with chronic pain would not be feasible as the recommended duration is about 5days. Unless you want to try it as a break through pain medication but I really wonder if it is all worth it.

I always advice that clients stick to the same doctor to ensure a progressive and continued care. Never stop telling your doctor exactly how you feel, what you think has helped and what didn't make a difference. Based on these information, he would be able to make treatment evaluation and adjustments to address your concerns.

Feel free to send the MRI report to me. I will be happy to learn ore about your health condition and act on it.

I wish you well and hope to hear from you.
