Is There Any Relation Between Bilirubin Levels And Platelet Count?

Question: My bilirubin level is 45 UMOL and platelet count is around 105000 while blood test done in fasting, but blood tested after breakfast & lunch bilirubin level is reduced to 30 Umol and Platelet count is increased 180000. is there any relation with relation with bilirubin and platelet count, all other liver enzymes are normal and viral studies are negative.

1. There is no relation between bilirubin and platelet count.

2. Diurnal variations and day to day variations is common with everything, and similarly your bilirubin and platelet is getting varied.

3. Afternoon hemoconcentration might be concentrating the blood to give high platelet count.

4. Diet affecting bilirubin levels. Your raised bilirubin is due to XXXXXXX syndrome, which presents with most of the other liver function test as normal.

Do not worry. If the platelet count falls below 100000, further investigation might be necessary.
