Question: My 3 year old son is refusing to take any food and even milk. He is weighing 13.10 Kgs. I have taken him to a reputed hospital at XXXXXXX and the Doctor suggested LFT and Total obdomin scan. All the reports are normal. Doctor suggested Practin Syrup 5 ML in night and Astymin Syrup 5 ML in night. He is very much succeptible to caufgh and cold he gest it once in a month. The drugs used for cold is KolQ syreup and for Caugh Respira Syrup (Ambroxil). His blood report shows that TC is 4600 and LYMPH is 57.2.
Is the sysrups suggested by the Doctor for appetite will show any improvement in his intake of food ?
From his TC and LYMPH levels what we can read.

Brief Answer:
continue the syrups as suggested.

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for the query.

I would like to tell you that, there are certain periods of loss of appetite without any reason.
Do not worry, continue syrup practin half hour before food two times a day and syp. Astymin-c after food as suggested by doctor, they will prove the appetite.
Stop outside food like biscuits, breads, khari puffs and reduce milk so that there will be room for home food.
From the reports there is nothing to be concerned about.
Viral illness, causing cough and cold are common in children.
But if it occurs every month then you need to do complete blood count and chest x-ray.
Hope I helped you.

Dear Dr.

I got done CBC very recently for LFT and all other blood analysis. The only abnormality noticed is TC 4600 against normal range of 5000 - 17000 and LYMPH is 57.2 as against normal range of 25 - 45. My question is what we can ready from this analysis.

I got done the chext x-ray also about 18 months back and doctor suggested some antibiotics at that time. When i have shown the same x-ray recently to another doctor and asked hiem whether i have to get done one more x-ray to know the latest position, doctor replied not required.

I would request your observation for my 1st question above.

Brief Answer:
it's viral

Detailed Answer:

Thanks for follow up.

This is normal variation in the blood test, as the TLC range and lymphocytes may differ according to age.

Low TLC and raised LYMPHOCYTES is indication of viral infection, if associated with fever.

Nothing to worry about the report it might have become normal now.

Hope I helped you.
