Question: Well my mri report shows a torn horn rimmed medial meniscus tear is this bad I'm having surgery the 22nd and am really nervous I hear the after effects can be very painful and healing time for this particular procedure takes twice as long as any other tear. They say it's a posterior tear at the back of my knee joint any advice anyone can share is surgery the way to go sorry I don't have a copy of my mri report for you but just a word of advice my orthopedic surgeon says if I don't fix it no w it will only get worse and run the risk of my leg locking in place ? Is that true?

Brief Answer:
Persistently will lead to locking episode

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Meniscus injury can be managed by arthroscopic repair, and same day you can go home.
As per your symptoms you need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion pre-operatively.
Arthroscopic meniscus tear management has good results and no need to be nervous.
Post operative recovery time is less and with in week you can start physiotherapy exercises.
If torn meniscus remains in knee joint persistently will lead to locking episode and early cartilage damage.
Small meniscus tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS.
