Question: dear Doctor

i have had retina detachment in the eye 4 weeks back. did retina vitrectomy.

3 weeks later the surgery doctor told me that the healing is perfect and asked me to come after 2 months to remove silicon oil. since yday i felt like lost some of the oil in my eye and went to doctor today for a consultation. he saw and asked me to come after a week and said he see some oil got lost and there is slight diplacement / fold in retina.

he asked me to use vegamox and tears gel for every 2 hours for next one weeka nd asked me to come next tuesday. depending on the need either he may do procedure again and inject silicon oil or just go on drops.

he okayed to resume my duty and even okayed for air travel.

i am worried of this complication and pls guide and advise me if anything to worry

also i am seeing my cornea (black eye ) seems to have pressed, i observed today, whenever i move my eye to a corner. pls confirm if it is normal. (Photos attached)

Brief Answer:
It is conjunctival swelling and it will resolve.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I reviewed your history and the previous question and answers which we had discussed.

This problem called as retinal dislocation which occurs following retinal detachment surgery is common and it is because of inadequate tamponade given by the silicone oil and this may not require further intervention.

As I am routinely involved in the post operative follow up following retinal detachment surgery, I rarely come across the situations which may require repeat injections of oil. Hence no need to worry.

I reviewed the reports attached with the question and this show conjunctival chemosis because of swelling of the conjunctiva. This will resolve on its own and no need to worry. Use of anti-inflammatory drugs will provide symptomatic relief and help in early resolution.
No need to worry about this problem also.

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you

thanks doctor

hope u have seen my photos of eye. I am using refresh gel and vegamox for every 2 hours during the day.

I sent the question again as I felt the eye is pressed to a corner when I look towards my left.

as I was traveling I had to put eye drops on my own and I by mistake touched the eye with eye drop bottle once . I worried if cornea (as shown in the photo ) is pressed due to the same

Brief Answer:
Yes I have seen the recent photos.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thank you for the follow up question.

I have seen the recent photos which are showing the swelling of the conjunctiva. This is called as chemosis. This can be because of touching of the eye drop bottle to the conjuncitva.
This will resolve and no need to worry. This is because of swelling of the conjunctiva and it will not press against the cornea.
This will resolve in 1-2 days even without any treatment.
If you are having irritation you can use anti-inflammatory drugs like diclofenac or acleofenac for symptomatic relief.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
