As you are already being treated with mesalamine, it means that you have not the severe form of proctitis. Mesalamine is among the drugs of choice. If you are having improvement, it means that such treatment is having effect. At last, I must admit that proctitis is a recurring condition. In other words, as described earlier it has its own periods of improvement and aggravation. However, nothing can be taken for sure as improvement might last longer and won't have aggravation.
