Is Pregnancy Possible While Missing Contraceptive Dosages?
On October 13th I forgot to take a pill (I'm taking at nights at 24 pm) and took it next morning (after 9 hours). To be on a safe side, I took an emergency pill on 15th October (I know I probably should'nt have taken it, but I was afraid and I didn't feel any side effects and there was no bleeding). I continued to take regular pills every day as usual afterwards and was told to use extra protection for this cycle. I abstained from sex from 13th October and had sex only today, on October 18th, with a condom.
But at the end the condom slipped off and I am not sure if something happened (my partner tells that he did not finish inside me but I'm still afraid).
It is the beginnng of a third week of pills (expected next period is on 25th October).
I know I messed up. What should I do now? Should I use an emergency pill once again? Or am I protected at this point?
Thank you do much for the advice!
no need for ecp, just continue your birth control, you are safe.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
As you have been taking your contraceptive pills regularly and on time you are still protected and unlikely that you would have ovulated during this cycle. Ideally after taking an emergency contraceptive pill, the withdrawal bleeding is expected in next 5-7 days, so there is a possibility that you may experience some spotting after 2-3 days , simply because the concentration of progesterones in ECP is higher than the birth control pills. So still there is no need to worry, just continue on your contraceptive pills regularly as you have been taken even though you experience spotting and you shall be protected. Once you finish your pack, in next 5-7 days you would experience your withdrawal bleed.
There is no need to take another ecp, its not recommended at present.

Looking forward to your reply, many thanks!

The ecp will not reduce the effectiveness of your birth control pills.
As you have taken 3 pills after ecp again , thats like double protection anyhow and you would not get pregnant .
Yes, being on birth control at present doesn't make you infertile per se, but yes prevents ovulation and technically made infertile.
