Is Pneumococcal Vaccine Safe To Give Along With Hep B Vaccine?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Jun 2014
Question: My small one is 4 months 23 days old... we had finished her with all DTPw/DTPa,HiB+ Polio + Rotavirus vaccine and 2 dose of Pneumococcal . Only one Pneumococcal dose is left which should have been given on 15th May but we missed it. We used to vaccinate her on 15th of every month... Now my question is she is getting in to 6th month on 1st XXXXXXX so can I combine her Pneumococcal with her 6 month vaccination i.e Polio + Hepatitis B. If I delay her Pneumococcal vaccine is there any bad effects/issue? Is it idle to delay there vaccine dates??

Brief Answer:
No problem at all

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
It's absolutely fine to combine your third dose of pneumococcal vaccine with the hepb .
No problem at all.
Usually dose interval between pneumococcal vaccines cam be one or 2 months.
Delaying more than 2 months from last dose would not be ideal.
It's better to take vaccines on the particular months.
Delay of one month shouldn't be a problem.

Dr Arun
