default
Posted on Thu, 26 Jun 2014
Question: My Kid is 36 Kg weight and he is being treated for Typhoid since Sunday through tablets as his widal came positive for it. However over the last 3 days the doctor is giving him IV of 1.5 Grams of Monocef twice daily along with Amikacin 300 and Azithromycin 500 BD. Is the line of treatment correct because since 3 days though there was no Fever, today in the evening he had a spike of 100.4 F for 30 minutes which came down when I gave him crocin 500 tablet. Is this normal? His fever has been spiking like this irregularly for last 15 days.

Brief Answer:
correct treatment. Crocin whenever he gets fever

Detailed Answer:
HI.
Good evening.

This is absolutely the correct line of treatment for Typhoid fever as per the treatment trends in XXXXXXX All the medicines are the best against Typhoid.

Typhoid can present in many forms and the classical book-picture is not seen now-a-days in XXXXXXX
It is good that your son has already been covered for malaria.

You do not have to think about any other treatment for typhoid. The antibiotics being given at the moment are the most proven and correct and in combination will definitely cure the typhoid.

100.4 is not much of fever and it takes around 3 to 5 days for the fever to settle, for which you are giving the right medicines Crocin in a right dose as per the weight of the patient.

You can give him Crocin, whenever he shows fever. This may take only a few more days to get a control over fever and your son will show a great deal of improvements. Since he is having fever for 15 days , it may take a few more days to recover .

So do not worry. He is on the right treatment and will show the results very soon.
