Is Lowering The Dosage Of BP Medication Safe When BP Is Under Control?
Question: I am on BP medication for last 2 years and taking Losar H 50 mg, Storvas 10, and Ecospirin 75. As the BP has reduced to 130/80 now can I discontinue or reduce the dosage ?
Brief Answer:
NO

Welcome to Health Care Magic
No – one cannot stop the medicines!
For a long life, the medicines must be taken lifelong
The drugs do not treat the cause (which is often genetic) –
They only control the manifestation… if we stop the drug, the pressure will go back to previous levels.. One cannot switch off the engine or stop putting petrol for the car, because it is running well!
As a matter of fact, we may have to step up the dose later – because with advancing age, stiffening of the blood vessel wall will occur and the pressure may rise…
The problem is silent / and hence needs regular follow up
Good luck
God bless you
