Is Left Sided Pain Symptom Of Kidney Stone?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: I have a history of kidney stones and usually feel my pain in left flank. For over a week now when I bend over or sit even turning from my left side to my right while in bed, I get a shrap stabbing pain in my left side. It is right above my hip area. I am not sure if this could still be kidney stones? I know I have never felt this sharp pain before this last week and it seems to be increaseing every day with movement. I do have a appointment with my dentist because I beleive I have an infection where a wisdom tooth was extracted 20 years ago but I cant belive that it would cause sharp pains in my stomach? I am confused. 43 years old l-5 s1 back fusion, hysterectomy but still have ovaries.

Brief Answer: Refer below Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic! Yes, there is possibility of it being kidney stones. The location and nature of pain along with previous history of kidney stones gives this suspicion. Getting an ultrasound abdomen/Pelvis is the best way to know the presence of kidney stones. I do not think that your dental infection may not be the reason for your sharp pains in my stomach. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have have any clarifications. Brief Answer: I do not think that it is hernia Detailed Answer: Hi, I do not think that it is hernia. Pain is not the usual presentation of hernia unless when it got complicated. Moreover, you can notice a swelling and movement of swelling with straining activities. However, a keen physical examination can easily diagnose hernia. Hope I have answered your query.
