Is It Safe To Take Furamist Twice A Day?

Question: Followup question to Dr.Rajkishori Godhi
Please guide about usage of Furamist. 1. Is it safe to take Furamist twice a day? (one puff morning and one puff evening each nostril respectively. How many days should I use and when (and how) should I decrease the dosage gradually and stop 2. You mentioned about 'Electric Steamer': Did you mean 'steam inhalation' or is there is any specific instrument that you're referring to? 3.Are there any other tests other than PNS that could reveal my issue. As mentioned earlier, I exert toward evening from around 5.00PM. I feel discomfort in my eyes (slight blur; got my eyes checked and I'm using correct lens), nose, forehead and I feel like lying down and taking rest. I find it difficult to concentrate (while driving), talk etc., All these symptoms are more toward evening thru night. Please advise. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
many tests available to disgnose your condition.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mr XXXXXXX
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.

1) Furamist is 2 puffs once a day preferably in the morning. I would like to say that it is unwise to take prescriptions on the internet, complete examination is of utmost importance and taking medicines without seeing a doctor is dangerous.
Furamist should be used for a minimum 6 weeks. Depending on your symtoms and response to the medicine we decide how long it should be taken. It is very safe and can be used for long periods without side effects.

2) Electric steamer is a simple device available in all pharmacies. It boils water and releases steam. If you keep it in your airconditioned chamber, it humidifies the environment in your chamber thereby reducing the harmful effects of air conditioning. Alternatively you can use a humidifier.

3) According to your previous query your doctor has prescribed steroid nasal spray so I guess your examination has revealed alllergy in your nose. There are plenty of tests to confirm or refute the diagnosis of allergy.
Eosinophil counts, IgE levels, ELISA, RAST are the blood tests. Skin tests are more sensitive. In skin tests a variety of allergens are testsed on your skin.

Many times the picture is so clear that we do not get any tests done to diagnose allergy. Only when we are keen to discover the allergy causing agent do we get tests done.

Heaviness of the eyes , forehead and tiredness can be due to sinus
infection. Prolonged exposure to airconditioining and allergy can predispose you to sinus infections. You may need a course of antibiotics. Please see a doctor. Till then you can instill decongestant nose drops like otrivin, instill 3 drops in each nostril 3 times a day for 6 days and follow it up with steam inhalation.

Thanks for your response.
I met ENT doctor today and attached is the diagnosis and prescription.
He did Nasal endoscopy and said that the airway passages have become thinner and there is DNS and its more/tilting on the right nostril. He also checked my ears and said that he can see some mid ear, which ideally shouldn't appear. I quite didnt understand what he meant. He asked me to use prescribed medicines (pls refer attached report)for two weeks and asked me to meet him post that along with CT Scan PNS report. I'm using Furamist one spray per nostril twice a day (morning and evening). The doctor said that I can use it for a while; w.r.t the medicines prescribed by him, can you please explain what each medicine is meant for, just for the purpose of my knowledge. (Right now, I'm on one month treatment for IBS. I'm using Sompraz L Capsules, Tab Sibofix, Naturolax powder, Econorm capsules)

Brief Answer:
sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir,

Ceftas is an antibiotic,
Mucolite is a mucolytic - it keeps your sinus secretions thin so that they drain better.
T P 500 is probably paracetamol.
Flagyl is one more antibiotic.

Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
