Brief Answer:
No nebulizations for not severe wheezing

Detailed Answer:
Hi....Dear sir...Duolin is a respule formulation used very commonly for wheezing in kids. Nowadays nebulization is gradually going out of phase and the metered dose inhalers are coming into vogue. These are easy to use even at home and no need for a nebulization equipment.

Individual cases of psychological alterations have been reported not only duolin but to almost all the classes of drugs used for controlling wheezing. This class of drugs is called betamimetics. As such this is a very rare side effect. Not reported as common side effect and is known in medical literature as anecdotal case reports.

So, I don't think it is right to say that one or two nebulization with duolin can cause hyperactivity in kids. Even levolin which you mentioned in your query can cause this though extremely rare.

But as doctors we always see the risk benefit ratio in prescribing any medicine to any patient. If benefits out weigh the risks, then the drug gas to be used.

I am not against using Duolin if there is severe wheeze, but as you have mentioned the wheezing is rare in your kid, I would prefer a metered dose inhaler with spacer or hupufkit.

But even though rare, if the wheezing is very severe, to control acute symptoms, definitely duolin can be used.

Hope I have clarified your doubts regarding this. You are welcome if you need any further clarification.
