Question: Dear Doctor,

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant. Since the 6th week i have been prescribed to take gestofit 200 and progynova 2 mg daily. I read somewhere that taking these two medicines simultaneously is not safe. please advise.
Also pls note that i had a miscarriage in april this year. cardiac activity stopped in the embryo after the 7th week.
I am 32 yrs old, 58kg, 5ft 3 inches.
Warm Regards

Hello Manjeema Banerjee,

Thank you for the query.

Progynova contains estradiol valerate, an ester of the endogenous female estrogen, which is contraindicated in pregancy. Hence you should stop taking it.

Gestofit is a progesterone containing medication, which helps to treat hormone deficiency during pregnancy. It is specially helpful in cases like yours, due to the prior history of fetal loss.

Please consult a OB-GYN doctor who can examine you and provide proper help to have a safe and successful pregnancy.

I hope this helps.

Regards.
