Brief Answer:
Diet and physical exercise can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Height of an individual is determined by Genetics, Environmental & Nutritional factors and Hormonal factors (most important the Growth Hormone secreted by pituitary gland in brain)
An individual stops growing in height after the fusion of the Epiphyses of the long bones, which occurs by the age of 19-22 yrs in males. In boys the final growth starts around 13-15 years and lasts maximum to 18-19.
Assuming that he is into his final growth spurt (which is a possibility and not a certainty) he ought to take care of his nutrition and be active not lazy:
And tips for nutrition are :

*1. Eat 5-6 times a day
*2. Get lean protein and vegetables/fruit at every feeding
*3. Drink lots of water
* 4. Aim for 90% good eating, this means cheating very occasionally
* 5. Eat starchy carbohydrates only in the post-workout window (the next 1-2 meals after heavy exercise)
* 6. Get proper nutrition around strenuous physical activity
* 7. Get enough sleep!
In your or any body's hand is to do nutritional effort but end result is determined by unbeatable factor "genetics".
I hope this answers your query.

My son is very active but is also anvery picky eater. There arent many vegetables he likes. What vitamins/minerals increase bone growth specifically? Could we supplement with these to fill in any nutritional gaps?

Brief Answer:
Taking calcium and D3 supplements will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Include foods with calcium and vitamin D (low fat milk and cheese). Green vegetables and nuts are also good sources of calcium. Replace carbohydrates with proteins such as fish, eggs, meat and legumes.
Eat vitamin rich food such as vegetables, fruits, almonds and peanuts.
Avoid carbonated drinks, excess salt, sugar and fat.
There are no supplements that specifically increase height.
He can take calcium and D3 supplements.
