Is It Possible To Get Pregnant Despite Having Postinor 2 Post Unprotected Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Feb 2015
Question: Hi, me & my fiancé had sex on the 13th January 2015 (night) and when I was pulling out, the condom slipped and I noticed that a little bit of cum had landed on the lips of her virgina. I immediately wiped it off using a piece of cloth and she then washed her virgina as well. Next day morning, we visited a doctor who prescribed us to take Postinor 2 as a precautionary measure. The first tablet was taken 12 hours after the condom had slipped and the 2nd tablet was taken 12 hours after the first tablet was taken. After around 7 days from day my fiance took the postinor 2 tablets, she was experiencing a pain in her virgina along with a slight light transparent discharge (Not thick white discharge). We visited our local doctor who suspected it could be owing to a urine/yeast infection and advised my fiance to take this does of 3 tablets which she was asked to insert in to her virgina every night before she sleeps (does: one tablet per night x 3 nights straight). She did the first night and next day morning, she was experiencing a heavy discharge of a think white substance coming out of her virgina. She felt sick and vomited once that morning. However, she continued to insert the tablets the next two nights (yesterday night was the 3rd and final tablet inserted) as recommended. She did not vomit afterwards but is still experiencing a thick white discharge coming out of her virgina even when she woke up this morning. The pain in her virgina is no more but its still very itchy it seems. The last two days, she's been feeling very tired, peeing a lot more than usual, having a back pain and a mild pain in her lower stomach since this morning. Her last period was a heavy flow from 28th Dec 2014 which lasted for around 4 days. The next period as per her usual cycle is expected next week. However, she is very worried and concerned with what she has been experiencing especially we are at present living in a foreign country. Is what she is experiencing could be owing to side effects of taking Postinor 2 or the medicine prescribed by the doctor for a suspected urine/yeast infection? or is there any chance these could be signs of pregnancy? It's been 10 days since the condom slipped. Can signs of pregnancy appear this soon even after taking Postinor 2 within 12 hours from the time the condom slipped?

We are very confused and a bit helpless right now as this is the first time we experienced such an incident.
In-fact this is the first time she took Postinor 2 as well and all this is a whole new experience for us right now. Appreciate your advice please.

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy not possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns about chances pregnancy.

Following is my reply:

1. I think pregnancy is not possible. You have ejaculated outside vagina and she has taken postinor. So the pregnancy chances are not there.

2. The symptoms she is experiencing are not related to pregnancy.

3. Itching in vagina and urine frequency are mainly related to urine / fungal infection. Your doctor is giving right treatment.

4. Please ask her to give urine for culture and sensitivity test so that appropriate antibiotics can be taken.

5. This is not pregnancy dont worry about it. Get urine / fungal infection treated as adviced by your doctor and show urine report to the doctor.

I hope your doubt is clarified. Let me know if you wish any other information.

Regards,
Dr. Soumya

Dear Dr XXXXXXX

Many thanks for your reply.
If I may ask, how can it be said that she is not pregnant?
I did ejaculate inside her (ofcourse, was wearing a condom) but the condom slipped when I was pulling out and I saw drop of my cum on the lips of her vargina. There was no damage on the condom so I doubt there was any chance of any cum leaking out inside her. However, just to make sure we went to the doctor next day morning, and was advised to take postinor 2. The postinor 1st table was taken 12 hours after the whole incident took place and the 2nd was taken 12 hours after the 1st tablet was taken after prescribed.

Just to reclassify, what would the chances of pregnancy based on the above scenario? She was to get her periods tomorrow (28th Jan 15). However, as per her, she's not feeling it's going to come on the 28th. This is the first time we are experiencing something of this nature hence, pretty concerned and confused.

Based on our doctors advice, she did a urine test of which the report is attached for your reference. The doctor here reviewed the report and said its a fungal infection in her system and advised her to take the following medicine,

1.Canditral - Two tablets every night for 4 nights straight.
2.Same does of the 3 tablets which she was asked to insert in to her virgina every
night before she sleeps (does: one tablet per night x 3 nights straight).

She took the first two tablets last night and inserted one of the other capsules in to her vargina before going to sleep. Also to aggravate the situation, she's been having a severe back pain from yesterday, with abdominal pain, nausea and headaches.

She is very worried and confused with whats going on with her systems and there's various symptoms popping up from time to time. Are these systems normal for a fungal/yeast infection or is there any chance of she being pregnant?

If the periods are delayed owing to taking postinor 2, how long (no of days) will it be usually delayed by? Also, would the other medicine she's been asked to take, have any impact of the effectiveness of taking postinor 2? Or can those medicine too cause to push back her periods?

Appreciate your valued advice please.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy is not possible

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I understand the confusion you are facing.

Following is the reply to your questions:

1) As Yourself say there was a drop on outside of vagina while pulling out. This drop outside which was wiped is unlikely to cause pregnancy by travelling in so fast.

2) More over you took postinor tablets which will give you protection in case any sperm has gone inside.

3) In light of all these, there is no possibility of pregnancy.

4) I saw the attached report. This shows Candida ( fungal) infection susceptible to medicines. You can continue the medicines as prescribed. It takes time to heal. The aggravation you feel is temporary.

5) Other symptoms like backache are likely to be due to impending menstrual cycle. Some times these signs suggest that menstruation is due.

6) Postinor is likely to have delayed her periods. Wait for a week for periods to arrive. Associated stress is also likely to delay the periods.
