Is It Possible To Get Differences In Diastolic BP Within 2 Minutes Of Interval?

default
Posted on Fri, 17 Apr 2015
Question: When I woke up this morning, I went straight to my electronic b/p monitor and was concerned to see 147/130, p/77. My arm slipped off of the table during the measurement. Thinking it was possibly a misread, I reset the monitor, readjusted the cuff, and took it again immediately. It was 137/80 the second time. Is this difference of 50 in the diastolic physiologically possible within 2 minutes, or do you think the first measurement was a misread? I plan on repeating this (without the arm slipping off the table) tomorrow morning as soon as I get out of bed. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Yes,probably a false reading

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXX,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I understood your concern..
The first reading which you got was probably a false reading due to improper cuff positioning(due to slippage)..
Its nearly impossible to get difference in your diastolic BP when you checked the second time in minutes interval..Even in such case, you might have felt something unusual like lightheadedness, nausea etc..Hope I was of help..If any further queries, happy to answer you..
Regards.
