Question: In a perfectly healthy man, is it possible for the left side of his stomach to have an area that is harder than the right?

In a healthy individual, it is not normal to have one side of the abdomen (stomach area) harder than the other. Hardness in the left side of the abdomen could be due to:
- enlargement of the spleen
- stomach masses, especially in the fundus of the stomach
- masses in the left hemicolon
- soft tissue swellings
