Brief Answer:
Decrease in SGPT from 159 to 113 is good for you

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Having seen both your reports, the decrease of SGPT from 159 to 113 is an indication that your liver enzymes have come down in the last one month. SGOT levels are also showing good response after stopping alcohol

It shows that after stopping alcohol intake, the liver is showing signs of recovery. It might take 6 months for the level s of liver enzymes to return to normal.

If possible also please get an ultrasound scan abdomen done to make sure your liver is normal in appearance.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
Having one or two drinks a week is acceptable

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

If you drink in small amounts (1 or 2 glasses) once a week then there is no concern. If this continues every day then it can harm your liver. Also please reduce amount of spicy and fatty foods. The problem with alcohol consumption is when a person cannot stop at one or two drinks and continues drinking till he is satisfied. This behavior is dangerous for the liver.

Taking liv 52 tablets is sufficient. There is no need to take any other medications if your liver is normal on ultrasound scan and if the blood tests are showing decrease in liver enzyme levels. Please do not worry.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
