Is It Advisable To Not Remove Ovaries During A Partial Hysterectomy?

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: I am scheduled for a partial hysterectomy and oophorectomy, leaving my cervix behind. The reason for the surgery is Endometriosis and Suspected adenomyosis. Is it possuble to ask my doctor who is doing the surgery to leave my ovaries and only remove the uterus, because I think it may be the adenomyosis causing my pain and the thought of losing my ovaries gives me very bad feelings of anxiety.

Brief Answer:
They should leave your ovaries

Detailed Answer:
Unless they encounter SEVERE endometriosis they should not take your ovaries. If the pain is convincingly from your uterus, then just remove the uterus and see how you feel. Go with your instincts!
