Is Irregular Menstrual Cycle Post Delivery A Cause For Concern?
Question: I have delivered a baby 10 month ago in April 2016. However, my periods are still not consistant. After July, I got periods only once in January. Is the inconsistancy fine? I am not lactating my baby after 6 months.
Brief Answer:
This is normal. Losing weight will help
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
I have read you query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) It is normal to have delayed menses and irregular menses after deliver. This may extend up to 2 years in some women.
2) Main reason is weight that adds up after delivery. This causes irregular cycles.
3) I suggest you reduce your weight which will help to regularise cycles at the earliest.
I hope I answered you query and addressed your concerns.
Let me know if you wish to ask any further questions. I will be glad to help you.
Regards,
Dr. Soumya
