Brief Answer:
Safe in pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand the concerns.
Gestational diabetes should ideally be managed by diabetic diet and if not controlled by diet, then insulin should be given.
Myoinositol is given in pregnancy to reduce the risk of gestational diabetes.
It is not used for treatment of this condition.
Metformin is given for treatment of diabetes, and can be given in pregnancy.
Both drugs are safe in pregnancy and have minimal effect on the amniotic fluid.
However, I will suggest you to consult your treating doctor about the rationale of starting these drugs, and discuss about diabetic diet and insulin.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

My doctor said 20 is high for AFI.... if i was having this high fluid i could not have walk properly and felt very heavy and streched. Is this true

Brief Answer:
Seems to be miscalculation

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Its ok to not to start insulin, however you should follow and have diabetic diet.
AFI is not decreased by these two drugs.
The previous AFI of 20 seems to be miscalculated.
This high AFI causes breathing and walking discomfort.
I will suggest you to get a follow up scan after a week to check the AFI.

I have already got a follow up scan done it says my AFI is 10.5 ... so thats y i was concerned do these medicines lower aminiotic fluid levels....should i continue myoinositol.... or i should go for metformin alone
doctor
Answered by Dr. Deepti Verma (1 hour later)
Brief Answer:
Only metformin

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I am advising a follow up scan after this scan telling the AFI of 10.5, so that it can be assessed that the AFI is actually decreasing.
I will suggest you to continue with the metformin alone, as myoinositol do not help much in decreasing the blood sugar levels.
