Is Influenza A Contagious Disease?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Jan 2017
Question: my wife has been sick for the past 7 days , gasanda in the ER twice day 2 and 3, after a series of blood tests and CT scan and X-ray she was diagnosed with a symptom of Vertigo. We were referred to ENT, today they did some motion to help correct the crystals in her left ear. Yesterday, my eldest son (6yrs old) became I'll, vomiting and seems to be better today. He lost his appetite completely, while occasionally running a fever. Normally we wait after 2 days before considering doctors visit. Surprisingly today it's my turn. I'm currently shivering with a head ache. We all had our flu vaccines except my wife who is not a believer in flu shots.
my question is could this be a virus going around in my home?

Brief Answer:
absolutely! The virus can affect different parts of the body-- throat, ears

Detailed Answer:

Hi welcome to HCM,

Absolutely! I do agree with you. The virus can affect different parts of the body--throat, stomach, ears, skin, etc.

Flu vaccine does not completely protect you. It ensures you get a weaker attack. Since your wife has not taken the flu shot, she is getting a more severe attack than the rest of you.

But since she has developed vertigo due to middle ear involvement, she should go through with her vertigo treatment.

You can revert back for any further queries, i'll be glad to clarify further.
