Is Herpes Gladiatorum Contagious Disease?
Question: I am a wrestler and had an outbreak of Herpes Gladiatorum on my ear.
I believe the infection has been gone for days but the area will take weeks to heal because of the damage it did to the tissue on my ear.
How soon is skin to skin contact ok with another Human?
My doctor prescribed me 2 doses of Valtrex which I completed 4 days ago. The wound no longer secretes any liquid, my lymph nodes are no longer swollen and the skin in the surrounding area feels normal again.

Thank you for writing to us on HCM.
Usually after proper treatment of Herpes Gladiatorum, the skin lesions especially ulcers are healed within a week or so.
Since you have taken Valtrex, I am sure your lesions must have healed by now.
For better healing I would suggest you application of acyclovir cream thrice a day for one more week.
I think if there are no erosions or discharge from lesions then you may indulge in your sport in a one or two days time.
