Brief Answer:
Less likely to be Genital herpes. More like a Jock Itch for him too !!!

Detailed Answer:
Warm Welcomes. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.
I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

I feel sorry for your husband also have some symptoms like this. It doesn't seem to be genital herpes. It is more like a JOCK ITCH in your husband's case. That is actually the same fungal infection caused by Tinea (a fungus).

It is due to lack of proper hygiene and wearing tight non-cotton clothes, remain more in hot humid environment, not shaving timely....
It is very common disease and needs proper care and it is cleared with time. Relapses are common if hygiene is not maintained. Ask your husband for the same treatment as aforementioned for you ( Hydrocortisone+Clotrimazole ointment to be applied on dry and clean skin--three times a day; Fexofenadine 120 mg once daily at night by mouth; Acetaminophen 650 mg three times a day after food).

Ask him to wear cotton-only underwear and loose clothes. He should avoid hot and humid environment. Rest and taking plenty of clean drinking water is good for faster recovery.

Hope I addressed all the concerns you have. Let me know if you have further questions. I will be more than happy to clear any doubts. Please give your 'rating' (if agreed, Five Stars) to help me assist patients in a better way; and, please don't forget to click on 'Close The Discussion'.
For any disease you have, a timely follow-up is necessary regarding the treatment efficacy and to see if there is a need to change treatment options. So keep a follow up to see how you doing (Always write down my name in start of your questions at this forum & I will be with you in no time).
