Question: HI! I AM A PERSONAL TRAINER, ONE OF MY NEW CLIENTS 57 YEARS OLD HAS GOUT, HE IS CONCERNED THAT EXERCISE COULD SOMEHOW DAMAGE JOINTS THAT ARE AFFECTED, ARE THERE CONTRAINDICATIONS?

Exercises should not be performed when there is an attack of the gout (joint inflammation).
If there is no active episode of the gout, exercises can be beneficial for joints making them stronger and in better condition.
