Posted on Mon, 18 Sep 2017
Question: I am a 62 year old women and Four years ago I was told I had the HPV virus with a marker of 16, note at that time I had just found out my husband of 34 years was having an affair. I have had Negative results for 3 1/2 years until my last test and once again it is coming back a 16. Two questions do I need to have the cryo procedure done and does this mean that my husband maybe having another affair?

Brief Answer:
1. It would be a better option; 2. Not necessarily ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I am sorry to hear about your HPV ma'am,

1. Getting the cryo would be a wise move, especially as exposure to warts in a person with HPV can lead to transmission of the infection to other non-infected individuals

2. There can be a recurrence of the HPV infection as it can remain dormant or latent in a previously infected individuals body, and can recur after a period of being asymptomatic in situations like:

+High stress levels
+Other infections
+Taking medications that cause an immunocompromised state
+High levels of exercise
+Use of steroids
etc.

So this could simply be an episode of recurrence, but that does not necessarily mean we can for sure rule out your husband from having an affair, as that is also a plausible situation. But you should know that the infection can recur even without him having an affair.

Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications or queries, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
