Is Coffee Consumption Advisable While On Nitrofurantoin Mono?

Question: I am on nitrofurantoin mono 100 mg for uti. Can I drank coffee and how much? Can I drink wine and how much?

hello and thank you for sending the question.

While taking this particular antibiotic it should be fine for you to drink coffee. You can drink as much coffee as you like but we generally do not recommend that you drink excessive amounts such as more than four or 5 cups in a day.

Regarding wine you may also have wine while taking this particular antibiotic. I would not recommend drinking more than two or three glasses in a 24 hour period
