Brief Answer:
Having an abnormal test does not mean that you have cancer.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to Healthcare magic.
I am Dr Ramadevi wani. I will be answering your concerns.

Do you have discharge from vagina with bad odour? Are there any warts in vulval area? Have you attained menopause? Do you have any bleeding from uterus?

Having an abnormal test does not mean that you have cancer. In fact the chances that you have cancer are very small.

The doctor is referring to specialist to confirm the diagnosis. The specialist will do a colposcopy for you. Colposcope is an instrument that works like microscope to magnify the cervix. For you the procedure will be similar to pap test. The colposcope does not touch your body. If minor changes are found on colposcope the specialist will only ask you to come for follow up again. If more severe changes are found on the cervix, a biopsy will be needed. Further management will depend on results of biopsy.

If there is no cervical cancer history in your family, you should not be worried about it.

I hope I have been helpful in putting your mind at ease. If you have any further queries I will be happy to answer.

Best wishes,
Dr Rama
